GETTING INTO THE SWING OF THINGS
BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF EASTON OFFERS INDOOR GOLF

(Date: 1/2/07): Between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday at The Boys & Girls Club of Easton young people ages 5 to 19 years of age are encouraged to take part in a collaborative after-school Jr. Golf Program offered in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Easton and The First Tee.

Sponsored by BROWN-DAUB, Inc., The program, “12 WEEKS OF GOLF”, January 16th 2007 through April 6th, 2007, will include instruction in putting, chipping, driving range activities, (weather permitted), and interactive creative games that introduce young people to golf and the fundamentals of playing the game.

Dean Young, Executive Director at the Boys & Girls Club of Easton said, “The Club was named a member of The First Tee national program which was created in 1997 to introduce young people of all backgrounds to the game of golf and the life lessons it teaches. The program will use The First Tee Life Skills Experience, where children and teenagers discover how the skills essential to success on a golf course can help them flourish in life; these skills include self-management, interpersonal communication, goal setting, and mentoring and effective conflict resolution.”

Abiding by The First Tee’s mission - To impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf - the Club’s aim is to incorporate the nine core values of The First Tee: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, courtesy, judgment, confidence, responsibility, and perseverance.

To kickoff the program sessions will be scheduled 3 times a week, indoors on Tuesday, Wednesday’s and Thursday’s at The Boys & Girls Club of Easton located at 508-A Charles Street between 3p.m. until 5p.m.  In addition, to the indoor golf activities young people who register for the program will have free access to the Club’s year round programs that include trips to local driving ranges, free rounds of 9 hole golf, daily practice access at the B&GCE Tour Turf ‘Field of Dreams’ 9 pin putting green & chipping facilities and four clinics conducted by local golf professionals.

Pre-registration and parental consent is required.  Registration and consent forms are immediately available on request at the Boys & Girls Club of Easton.  Cost for participants is $10.00 for current club members and $15.00 for new club registrants.  The registration fee also qualifies a full-year membership to the Boys & Girls Club of Easton’s programs and facilities.

Anyone interested in enrolling as a youth participant or volunteering as a Golf Mentor/Coach please contact Dean Young, Executive Director or Tina Dowling, Program Director at 610 253 5846.
